Fiona Thackeray’s corona-chronicle was long-listed in the BBC National Short Story Awards, 2021. Her short stories have won awards including The Macallan/Scotland on Sunday, Woman’s Own and Happenstance prizes, been broadcast on BBC R4 and translated into Polish and Portuguese. Her collection, The Secret’s in the Folding, was long-listed for the Edge Hill University and Frank O’Connor Prizes. She recently completed a novella set in Sao Paulo about the present falling in love with the past and is working on a novel about a circus fire.
In 2019 she received the Dr Andrew Duncan Medal for contributions to horticulture. Her book, Plastic-free Gardening, the first English-language guide on this subject, raises funds for therapeutic gardening projects.
